Understand the Need of Blood , Platelets and Plasma
Blood
Patients who are injured, or having surgery, or have illnesses like sickle cell disease that calls for blood transfusions, require blood and blood products. To meet that demand, more than 38,000 blood donations are required daily.
Platelets
A drop in platelet count lower than 10,000 platelets per micro-liter can cause life threatening internal bleeding to a person. You can save their life by donating platelets. Platelets are small blood cells that are responsible for forming clots to stop bleeding in our body.
Plasma
Plasma is essential to help your body recover from injuries, distribute nutrients, remove waste and prevent infection, while moving throughout your body. Lower plasma levels can cause minor dizziness to kidney and liver diseases.
